Expedition Update 2/5/26

Today the crew said goodbye to our mentors John (AKA Sockeye) and Bart. They shared their local knowledge and ensured we collectively had the skills needed to sail for the next weeks on our own. We ran aground, a necessary initiation to those sailing in The Keys, lost (and then retrieved) a pair of eyeglasses to the sea and navigated through Contents Key all to get ourselves neatly tucked into a mangrove pocket to weather yet another storm. And here we are now, cooking grilled cheeses for lunch, painting nails, journaling and winning and losing in card games all while a gale is blowing in our direction. This expedition has already been filled with so many laughs and stories and it has only been four days. The next weeks will put our crew to the test while we all rely on our own skillset to navigate the bright blue waters of The Keys.
