Expedition Update 1/31/26

Hello friends! As of today, our expedition start is stalled due to strong 30-35 knot winds caused by the winter storm Gianna hitting the east coast.

Yesterday, we got out on the water to practice raising our masts and to get acquainted with Eliza Sue and how she sails compared to the other boats we’ve been aboard. The morning was gloomy and rainy but cleared up nicely for us as we began to sail around in Pine Channel between Big Pine Key and Little Torch Key. On our way through the canals back into basecamp we saw seven manatees!

We’ll spend the next two days doing as much off-boat learning and preparation as possible. We’ve posted a lot of photos onto our gallery page from our sail, stay safe in the storm!
