Miles Turner thrived in remote, unsupported wilderness expedition environments. In his memory, the Hurricane Island Outward Bound School (HIOBS) has established the Miles Turner Expedition Fund, dedicated to encouraging active field staff and program management to undertake ambitious wilderness adventures.
The expedition that received the fund is a 22 day sailing trip throughout HIOBS’ previous course are of the Florida Keys. The applicants Gray George, Ben Lidoski, Roo Abdel-Al, Sofia Fea Ruiz, Arran Denning and Andrew Phelan are excited for the trip.
In addition we are using this opportunity for a fundraising campaign, Miles For Miles, donating our proceeds to Futaleufu River Keepers and World Central Kitchen.
