Hi Friends,
I’d like to apologize for not updating the blog posts enough, we’ve been enjoying each other’s presence along with the beautiful surroundings of the Florida keys. We’re all alive and well.
Since our last update on 2/10 we’ve traveled to the Marquesas islands and back, explored the backcountry of the Florida Keys, caught some fish, made amazing food, resupplied at a dock we had very vague permission to use (twice), read stories about Miles before dinner, explored beautiful keys, beaches and mangrove channels, and much more.
We sailed the sharpie sailboat ‘Eliza Sue’ in conditions that pushed it to 7 knots (near its hull/max speed), along with conditions that drifted us around drearily at less than 1 knots.
We’ve seen amazing things, including a green flash, sea turtles, dolphins, sharks feeding, crabs scuttling around, fish skipping on top of the surface of water, amazing mangroves and their offspring, beautiful cormorants, graceful herons and dinosaur like pelicans. However, maybe the most beautiful thing we’ve been able to see has been true versions of ourselves. That’s very hard to hide when you’re living on an open 30 foot boat with a group of people for more than two weeks.
We’ve decided that we’ll post more detailed blog posts, stories and photos after the expedition is completed. We hope to make the entries more personal and detailed going forward, exploring the little moments that have made this trip so special. The website and fundraising efforts will continue until at least mid March, thank you everyone for your support.
Attached to this post are some pictures in no particular chronological order.
With love,
Andrew
